Read Write Discover at Biblioteca Latinoamericana

Read Write Discover LogoThe Read Write Discover program located at the Biblioteca Latinoamericana still has a few openings for children entering grades 1-8.    If you are interested in signing up your child or children, please contact them at rwdbiblioteca@gmail.com

Read Write Discover is a summer community program that takes place in the Community Room at Biblioteca Latinoamericana.   High school volunteers tutor children entering 1st through 8th grades on Mondays and Tuesdays from 11:00 AM until 12:30 PM during June and July.  Tutors assign various projects with the students, including writing assignments, tests, vocabulary projects, arts and crafts, Reader's Theater, discussions, and more.   Most importantly, the tutors read with the children and help them with comprehension.   Tutors will assign reading assignments and written assignments which will be recorded on your child's Homework Calendar.

The team of tutors makes learning fun!   There will be several Read Write Discover projects for our students throughout the program.   Parents are invited to our end of the program performance (August 5) and awards ceremony (August 6.)

Read Write Discover is not a drop in program.  Tutors strive to work with the students to build their reading skills and a relationship with them, so it is important for the students to come to the sessions on a regular basis.
