California Room - Local History Collection
The California Room collects materials on California history with an emphasis on San Jose and Santa Clara Valley. Our collections are non-circulating and may be visited at the King Library.
Special Update
Following reductions in the Mayor’s Adopted Budget, operating hours will adjust to 16 hours per week starting August 26.
New open hours will be:
- Wednesday: 12 p.m. to 5 p.m.
- Thursday: 12 p.m. to 5 p.m.
- Saturday: 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
In addition to posted public hours, individual research appointments will be available on a first-come, first-served basis as staffing permits. Please submit an appointment request.

- Monday: 1 p.m to 6 p.m.
- Tuesday: 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
- Wednesday: 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
- Thursday: 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
- Friday: 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
- Saturday: 1 p.m. to 6 p.m.
- Sunday: Closed
