How does one maintain native plants in the garden? Starting in October, when California leaves behind the dry season and prepares for its own green “spring”, author Helen Popper provides detailed, calendar-based information for both beginning and experienced gardeners. Learn about gardening tasks, both ongoing and those specific to a particular season. Get design ideas, and learn how pruning, mulching, and propagation apply to native plants. Find out how native plants can be used in Japanese, herb, formal and cottage garden styles. Helen Popper is the author of a new book from University of California Press titled “California Native Gardening: A Month-by-Month Guide”. She is an Associate Professor of Economics at Santa Clara University, and a long-time member of the California Native Plant Society.
