Join the Almaden Community Center Staff at our Annual Breakfast with Santa event on Saturday, December 8, at 9:30 AM to 12:00 noon in the Almaden Community Center.

The morning will begin with a tasty breakfast and seasonal arts and crafts.

Then we will be joined by Santa where pictures will be available for purchase. We will provide the photography and frames for you and your family to enjoy for years to come.

We will end with a special gift from Santa.

Note that there is a charge of $10 for this event. Each child must be accompanied by a registered parent.

This program is intended for children ages 1½ years old and above.

Almaden Community Center is sponsoring several Flea Markets this year, however the one scheduled for this Sunday March 20th has been cancelled due to extreme weather conditions.

There will be two Flea Markets on Sundays later in the year: on 5/15, and 7/10 (from 7am-1pm).

Used items, collectibles, household goods, arts & crafts, jewelry, and specialty items will be available for purchase in Almaden Branch Library's parking lot.  If you are interested in selling items at either of these Flea Markets, please visit this website.

Please note: Because the Flea Markets are held in our lot, Drive-up access to our bookdrop may be limited on those dates.  Please consider the following alternatives:

• Returning items early
• Renewing items online/by phone (408-808-2665)
• Returning to Vineland, Cambrian, or other neighboring branches

Remember, library materials are never due on Sundays

Online registration is now open for classes listed in the Spring Citywide Activity Guide.  Check out the wide variety of offerings at the Almaden Community Center including spring break camps and summer camp opportunities as well as classes in art, dance, music, health, fitness, sports and early childhood recreation.  In addition, aquatics programs are offered at the Camden and Mayfair Community Centers.  There’s something for everyone!  Set up an account to register online, register by mail, or visit the Almaden Community Center to sign up.  Register by Saturday, April 16 to be eligible for prizes from donors such as the SJ Sharks, Great America, and the Children’s Discovery Museum.  Contact the Almaden Community Center at 408-268-1133 for more information.

Looking for some fun activities for kids to enjoy during the upcoming Presidents’ Day vacation week? The Almaden Library and Community Center are offering a variety of family friendly activities you may enjoy. In addition to our regular storytime and music programs, the library will feature the following free events: a special visit from Smokey the Bear on Wednesday February 23 at 12:00. Meet Smokey and enjoy stories, songs, and information about fire prevention and fire safety. Later in the afternoon children are invited to enjoy a musical craft program. Join us at 3:30 and have fun creating your own musical instruments. On Thursday afternoon our Kid’s reading club, Book Adventures will be discussing the well-known book, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory by Roald Dahl. Children aged 7-12 are invited for this active program featuring games related to this beloved tale.

Looking for some day camp alternatives for the week? The Almaden Community Center offers something for everyone. At Camp B-L-D (Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner) chefs age 6-10 will take a trip around the Teaching Kitchen and learn how to make meals and snacks for each part of the day. Camp meets Tuesday-Friday 8:30-12:30. Cooking supplies are included in the $185 cost. Want some more active alternatives? Spend the week at Basketball Camp or Dodgeball Mini Camp Tuesday-Friday. Play basketball in the morning from 9-3 or dodgeball in the afternoon from 3:30-6:00. Basketball Camp is designed for youth ages 8-13 and costs $112 for San Jose residents. Dodgeball Camp welcomes dodgeball enthusiasts ages 8-12 at a cost of only $60. For more information contact the Almaden Community Center at 408-268-1133 or register online.

The Almaden Community Center hosted Breakfast with Santa on December 11.
