Opera San Jose presents "Billy Goats Gruff" at King Library


     The Three Billy Goats Gruff CoverWould you like to introduce your family to opera? Well you'll be able to do just that when you attend this FREE special program at the King Library on Thursday, November 1 at 4:00PM. Opera San Jose's One Act Touring Company will be presenting Billy Goats Gruff. The opera tells the classic tale of the Three Billy Goats Gruff with a contemporary twist; this retelling tackles the issue of bullying and promotes the power of kindness. This 45 minute performance is set to melodies from some of opera's most beloved composers, including Mozart, Rossini and Donizetti and it is sung by wonderful singers from Opera San Jose. Don't miss this opportunity to introduce opera to your young children. The program will be held in Room 225/229 on the second floor of the King Library. If you would like to read this classic tale before attending the Opera, San Jose Public Library has copies that you can borrow. Check one out!

Last year children and their families were mesmerized by Opera San Jose's touring production of the classic play Hansel and Gretel. Well, Opera San Jose is back by popular demand, once again performing a condensed version of Englebert Humperdinck's classic opera. The performance will be on Friday, November 4 at 4:00PM in Room 225/229 of the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Library. It will feature costumed singers with live piano accompaniment. Children and adults will get a positive experience of an art form that may be new to them. The production lasts one hour and includes time for questions. If you didn't make last year's performance make sure to not miss this one. It is sure to be a treat for everyone!
