Ghosts & Hauntings in Fiction

My Final Blog for October 2024

I have truly enjoyed sharing my knowledge with you this October. We are almost at the height of the Halloween/ Samhain celebrations. It's the perfect time to turn down the lights and tell spooky stories about haunted places. When I was very young, my family lived in a small town in Pennsylvania. This town was known for its' early colonial homes and churches, as well as a beautiful historic cemetery. The most notable of all was Nemacolin Castle. It, like San Jose's Winchester Mystery House, is steeped in history and the tour guides would tell stories of (possibly) paranormal occurrences. I love a good ghost story! And here at San Jose Public Library, we have an amazing selection of books and movies that will cater to that need for a spooky story!

Classic Ghost Stories:

The Woman in White

The Canterville Ghost

The M. R. James Megapack

The Haunting of Hill House

The Shining

New Releases in Fiction:

The September House

How to Sell A Haunted House

Mexican Gothic

The House of Last Resort

A House With Good Bones

I hope that you've enjoyed reading these blogs as much as I've enjoyed writing them!
