My Top 13 Halloween Movies

Chills and Thrills

Every October, my husband and I will watch a horror movie or a Halloween-themed show each night from October 1st through Oct 31st, as a way to celebrate the Halloween Season. There has long been an ongoing love of horror movies in my family. My extended family lives not too far from where George Romero's classic movie "The Night of The Living Dead" was filmed. And my parents may have spent part of their honeymoon watching "Chilly Billy's Chiller Theatre". The first horror movie I remember watching was the 1981 werewolf movie "The Howling". According to family legend I said, "You're going to let ME watch THIS?". Our viewing of horror movies as a family continued throughout the 1980s with whatever was being featured on TV. This also included reruns of "Count Zappula's Horror House", which featured Count Zappula, his dog Igor, and his pet skull Chauncey. The latter portion of the 1980s led to the opening of video stores, most of which had sizable collections of horror movies, high budget and low budget, made stateside and all around the world. I highly recommend watching the 2019 documentary "In Search of Darkness" for the ultimate history of the 1980s horror movies, most of which went straight to video. There's a lot of enjoyable movies mentioned that are definitely worth searching for.

The following list is my personal Top 13 Movies (and shows) that I watch during the month of October. This list is offered in no particular order and can change according to my personal tastes.
