New Georgian Book Collection at San José Public Library

Introducing the New Georgian Collection

The San José Public Library welcomes the Georgian Community to enjoy our newest language collection. The National Parliamentary Library of Georgia has generously provided the San José Public Library with over eighty new classic and modern Georgian language books. Among these new titles are literary classics, as well as books about Georgian culture, history, and traditions. These print items can be found in the language collection stacks at your local branch and the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Library, or placed on hold via your online SJPL account.

This print collection of nonfiction and fiction books will be joining SJPL’s collection of Georgian Language films, available now on DVD and Blu-ray disc.

Georgian History in San José

Looking back, San José and Georgia already have a celebrated connection on the football pitch. Former San José Earthquakes Center Back Guram Kashia and Attacking Midfielder Valeri “Vako” Qazaishvili played the beautiful game in front of a cheering San José home crowd. This Georgian Duo were a part of three memorable seasons that brought a playoff appearance, and the record-breaking season that saw a local Striker Chris Wondolowski become the all-time MLS goal scoring leader.

Guram Kashia will captain the Georgia National Team in the UEFA Euro 2024 tournament.
