Starting a business can be a hard and intimidating process as it requires an incredible amount of work, passion, planning, and even some sweat and tears. So, where does one even begin when thinking of starting a business? Luckily, there are resources here in the Bay Area that can help aspiring entrepreneurs and business owners. One such resource is SCORE.
SCORE began in 1964 and is a volunteer, non-profit organization that is affiliated with the Small Business Administration. SCORE's main mission is to foster vibrant small business communities through mentoring and education. The organization is made up of volunteers who are veteran small business owners with the skills and experience in running a business, and can provide their business knowledge to aspiring entrepreneurs and small business owners.
The local SCORE Silicon Valley chapter began in 1976, and in 2016 SJPL Works formed a partnership with SCORE Silicon Valley to begin offering classes at the library on how to start a business, along with the steps necessary to starting a business in California.
