What is the Christmas Book Flood?
Jolabokaflod, or "The Christmas Book Flood" is an Icelandic tradition where new books are exchanged as gifts on Christmas Eve, and you spend the rest of the evening reading and sipping hot cocoa. In all honesty, this is how I spend most of my winter season....with new books, warm blankets, hot tea or hot cocoa, and a cuddly pet Bunny at my side. What better way to spend the Holidays than with some Cozy Christmas mysteries?
Read a Cozy Mysteries
Cozy mysteries are a genre that usually takes place in a smalltown setting, complete with quirky characters, and (often) a female main character that solves mysteries. And, of course, there is quite the selection of Christmas-themed Cozy Mysteries here at San Jose Public Library. Stop by your local library branch and check out some books for your own Christmas Book Flood!
It's also the perfect time to do some Holiday Baking! After all, you're going to need some sweets to go along with your hot tea or cocoa!
