Use the Library on Your Device
You've just received a new device! What do you do with it now? You can borrow eResources from the Library to use on your device!
Did you know that if you don't have a physical library card, you can still use our eResources with an eLibrary card? You just have to be a California resident.
Once you have your free library card, you can find something to borrow from the Library.
We will be looking under the "Books and eResources" menu on our website.
Finding Something to Borrow
Note the "Books & More" column.
Find something from our many lists, including:
- New Titles
- Bestsellers
- Award Winners
- SJPL Staff Picks
- Personal Recommendations: You can contact a librarian and ask for a personal recommendation with our free 5forU service.
- Lucky Day Collections
- Language Collections
When you are thinking about using the Library's eResources, you need to consider these items in terms of online content: you may use an app or you may use the item online via a web browser.
Most eBooks and audiobooks can be found in our catalog. However, our catalog will not be able to search every one of our eResources. You may have to search within the app itself. For instance, the Movies & TV and Music formats are primarily on our Hoopla app, which is not searchable in our catalog. So, if you cannot find an eResource you want to borrow in our catalog, consider searching the app itself. Of course, after identifying San José Public Library as your library of choice!
